Position Description

A health services agency in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Outpatient team on Staten Island. In this role, the Outpatient Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to agency clients in accordance with agency policies and procedures and current standards.

About the Opportunity

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Setting: Outpatient
  • Patient Population: Men & Women struggling with addiction, military veterans, mothers and babies, families, homeless New Yorkers, and the elderly

Responsibilities:

  • Assess health status of clients assigned to daily work schedule and develops a plan of care
  • Perform and document nursing intake and medical history
  • Triage sick call list as assigned and make referrals for treatment to appropriate level of medical practitioner
  • Complete follow-up assessment of clients who are treated for chronic and/or acute illnesses to monitor effectiveness of prescribed treatments
  • Monitor vital signs and performs physical examination, as indicated to assess health status of clients
  • Develop a plan of care for nursing care in accordance with standards of practice
  • Change dressings and wounds and provide other treatments that are prescribed by a Physician
  • Administer and document medications prescribed to agency clients
  • Maintain inventories of stock items and order supplies as indicated
  • Perform other duties, as requested

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of Nursing experience
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS certification
  • Computer savvy
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Methadone experience
  • Experience working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Serious Mental Illness (SMI)Knowledge of multi-disciplinary team experience
  • Knowledge of techniques for identifying and preventing potentially violent behavior, including Crisis Management techniques
