Position Description

We are seeking a strategic and visionary Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead our nursing operations. As the CNO, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for nursing, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, and fostering a collaborative environment that empowers our nursing staff. Your leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping our organizational culture, enhancing clinical outcomes, and driving excellence in nursing practice.


About the Opportunity

  • On Site, Hybrid, Remote: on site
  • Shift: 9am-5pm
  • Schedule: Mon-Friday
  • Setting: Public Health Organization

Responsibilities included but not limited to are:

  • Develop and implement nursing strategies that align with the organization's mission and goals, ensuring quality patient care and operational efficiency
  • Lead nursing teams in delivering exceptional patient care through evidence-based practices and innovative approaches
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to optimize resource allocation and improve patient care delivery systems
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to evaluate nursing quality and effectiveness, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Foster professional development and mentorship opportunities for nursing staff to enhance skills and promote career advancement
  • Drive initiatives to enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and overall clinical outcomes
  • Advocate for nursing within the executive leadership team and represent nursing interests in organizational decision-making


Qualifications & Experience

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse License and relevant certifications in nursing leadership
  • Master's degree in nursing or related field; Doctorate in nursing or health administration preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including experience in a senior management role
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, manage complex projects, and drive change initiatives
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality improvement methodologies

Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies

  • Proficient in healthcare management software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Experience with data analytics to drive clinical decision-making and performance improvement
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management in healthcare settings
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate nursing staff
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with a strategic approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace culture
  • Passion for nursing excellence and a dedication to improving patient outcomes

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-facility healthcare system or academic medical center
  • Track record of successful implementation of nursing practice initiatives that enhance patient care
  • Active participation in professional nursing organizations and community health initiatives
